All offenders have the privilege to send and receive mails. The mail must include the sender’s name and the mailing address. The address should be on the top left corner of the postcard. Each mail must always include the return address. Without this address, the mail will be destroyed or not delivered to the intended inmate. The mailing phone is 503-988-3689. The mailing address is as follows;

To place money on an Inmate’s account at Multnomah County Detention Center

Family members can send money to inmates through four significant ways. The first option is to drop the money at the jail. The personnel at the facility will then process the money into the inmate’s account. The second option is depositing the cash online. Private companies are generally used to process these funds into the inmate’s account at a small fee. Individuals are advised to create free accounts before depositing the cash online.

The third option is mailing the inmate deposit to the jail. The mailing deposit takes a lot of time to process. This option is, however, suitable for individuals who live far away from the detention center. Family members are discouraged from sending cash. They can instead send money orders from the US post office or Western Union. Individuals can also call 503-988-3689 for assistance on how to make the money order and where to send it. The fourth option is to make an inmate deposit over the phone. To make this transfer, the sender needs to know the inmates’ ID and their full names.

Commissary Items

Inmates have the chance to order commissary from the jail’s commissary network. The network can be accessed through the Kiosk machine. The machines are located in the work release dorm, the receiving area, and the housing units. Inmates can order commissary items depending on the amount of money in their accounts. Those that cannot be able to purchase items through the commissary at a given time are allowed to do so on different days when their account is loaded with cash. Family members can also deposit funds to the inmate’s commissary account online. They can contact the correctional facility by calling 503-988-3689.

Visiting hours in Multnomah County Detention Center

Visitation hours at the facility depend on factors such as the day of the week, the location where the inmate is housed, the inmate’s sex, and whether it is a holiday or not. Inmates are allowed two visits per week. Each visit ranges from fifteen minutes to one hour. The inmates with special privileges have more time for visitation.  The facility also considers those visitors who are visiting from a different state. The facility has also introduced home video visitation. These visitations are online and in real-time. Anyone who is above the age of 18 can visit an inmate at the facility. The number of persons who can visit an inmate at any given time is 2 adults.
