About Michigan Department of Correction

The Michigan Department of Corrections is the agency that is responsible for the care of inmates who come into a state prison. This agency tends to get overlooked, especially if you do not know someone who is currently incarcerated or ever was incarcerated, to begin with.

The Michigan Department of Corrections’ primary motive is to rehabilitate these offenders. These offenders are in this state prison because they committed a crime. It is the goal of the Department to help the offenders see the way. They want to give them the resources they need to help hold down a job, get a home, a car, and live their life as everyone else.

The Department can achieve their goals by providing these offenders with several programs. These programs can be educational, on the job training, counseling, and so much more. The offenders are encouraged to take these programs to help better themselves when they get out of the facility.

However, the agency does not only have to worry about those that are incarcerated; they also have to worry about those that got paroled or put on probation. These people are also under their watchful eye as well.
