The Central Florida Reception Center is a level 5 prison reception center in Orange County. It processes up to 1,659 youth or adult inmates under the supervision of the Florida Department of Corrections. This processing includes the screening of inmates for drugs, mental health checkups, and overall physical wellness. The inmates are placed in closed custody, minimum and medium level housing units as they await transfer to a permanent location. While here, the offenders take part in special programs to prepare them to cope with prison life and smooth re-entry to society upon release. These programs include academic, substance abuse, chaplaincy services, and institutional betterment programs.

Adjacent to the Central Florida Reception Center is the East Unit, a state prison with a capacity of 1,407 male inmates. This unit provides additional space needed to ease inmate traffic at the processing center.
